We're currently seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, Service Manager who can drive and build our future as a first in class service shop. This position offers some flexibility in scheduling, with evening and weekend availability required based on business demands. Compensation will be based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of the service and rental operations and for the strategy and technical development of the department’s staff
- Builds capabilities within their team to drive strategy and achieve results
- Accountable for ensuring the highest quality of service, with the lowest turnaround time
- Responsible for achieving budgeted revenue goals and monitoring expenses
- Delivers the highest level of customer service possible
- Train and build an engaged team of technicians to carry out shop service functions and provide excellent customer service
- Manage output of shop work to meet customer demand and Ski Rack performance expectations
- Skillful in understanding the need to adapt and pivot as a leader to meet the needs of the business, employees and customers
- Continuously looking to drive and increase productivity while maintaining quality
- Ensure shop equipment is maintained, organized and accessible for safe and reliable operation.
- Set employee schedules to meet and exceed service and customer experience
- Schedule and maintain training standards to elevate technical, sales and systems performance by service encourage mentoring by subject matter experts
- Work with employees and remove roadblocks to then hold them accountable for results; set measurable productivity goals
- Give on-going feedback and share goals with employees through regular check ins in addition to performance appraisals and goal setting
- Course correct employees who are not performing and meeting expectations
- Drive awareness of Ski Rack’s shop program through community engagement
- Oversee daily operations including bicycle check-in, service scheduling, assignment of work to mechanics, timely completion of service, consistency of service operations
- Service and service-writing on an as-needed basis. Establish reasonable service delivery times and appropriate communication to meet or exceed customer expectations
Experience/Skills/Behaviors:
- 4 or more years of experience in the Outdoor industry including direct experience providing bicycle and ski service and/or overseeing service operations
- Strong experience with the successful management of staff
- Maintain respectful relationships with co-workers and recognize the worth of every team member
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Service writing and diagnosis
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills in the constantly evolving Outdoor Industry
- Demonstrated ability to set standards and hold team members accountable

The Assistant Store Manager is a key member of the Skirack, Inc. leadership team. They demonstrate a personal commitment to lead through action to serve and fulfill our mission. They ensure that our team is enthusiastic, educated, professional, and productive. They are the key resource that staff go to do their jobs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct the execution of day to day operations store wide by setting clear expectations based on guidance from Store, Service and Category Managers
- Plan and train base camp staff in day to day operations, product knowledge, and service to ensure performance standards are being met. Seeks support from other Leadership resources including Category Managers to complete this work
- Track the performance of base camp staff to ensure they are delivering operational and customer service excellence
- Delegate work and follow up on progress to ensure progress is being made
- Ensure the accuracy of all opening/closing procedures, cash management, and resolution of discrepancies
- Train staff in the practices we use to prevent theft and shrinkage
- Provides clear direction and follow up to staff to ensure high cleanliness standards in the store, restrooms, employee break room, parking lot and immediate grounds at all times
- Constantly monitoring staff performance to ensure everyone is improving daily
- Takes action to redirect, educate, and motivate employees when performance does not meet expectations
- Supports Store Managers in documenting staff performance to ensure Company standards are being met
- Proactively collaborates and communicates with Store, Service and Category Managers to pursue new opportunities and address operational challenges
- Ensures that all written standards for the visual presentation of the store along with the organization and maintenance of all inventory, layaway, warranty and maintenance back stock areas are followed
- Supports the Inventory Team in the daily accuracy of all retail activities including execution of Web Fulfillment, Receiving, and Cycle Counts when needed
- Supports the execution of seasonal floor transition plans
- Provides timely feedback to Category Managers on customer requests and product feedback
- Supports and directs work to uphold company safety practices, ensuring the store is OSHA/VOSHA compliant at all times
- Supports the company by performing other duties and tasks that are assigned that may fall outside of daily job responsibilities
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years' experience with a track record of managing and building effective teams.(outdoor retail industry experience preferred)
- Ability to coordinate projects, execute plans & work well within a team
- Has a demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to prioritize on the fly
- Experienced with retail operations inclusive of product training and visual merchandising
- Demonstrated skill to build systems and tools to ensure timely responsiveness to requests and that deadlines are met
- Receptive to feedback and willingness to be coached
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, G Suite and other relevant software
- Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and peak business periods
- Travel: 10% or as required: for store visits, trade shows, events, and other professional development opportunities
- Able to lift 30+ pounds, stand/walk for extended periods of time
